Quite like the juicy crab noodle and the squirrel-shaped bass — both are excellent. The desserts are delicious too. It’s nice to have it once in a while.

Originally went to branch of this well known Chinese chain in its home town of Suzhou which was great. While this restaurant is a lot of smaller and not nearly as grand, the food certainly lived up to what I had in China! We had to go for the Squirrel Fish - a signature dish from Suzhou - and also opted for the Suzhou noodles, fried pork loin and crab roe. Went for the trio of “pastries” (glutinous rice desserts in reality) which were a nice end to the meal. All came out very promptly and was delicious! A very authentic and non-touristy spot in Chinatown - a welcome addition! Full of Chinese as well which is a great sign!

A Hidden Gem – Song Helou, Soho Song Helou in Soho is a brilliant spot for top-quality Chinese food in a stylish setting. The decor is elegant with a modern twist, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food is truly outstanding – the Dan Dan noodles are full of bold, complex flavours, and the Sichuan aubergine is rich and perfectly cooked. Even classic dishes feel elevated thanks to fresh ingredients and careful preparation. Service is friendly and helpful, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. A fantastic place for both casual meals and special occasions – highly recommended.

Amazing service, and it really made me miss the noodles from Suzhou! Highly recommend for any noodle lovers—plus, you can get extra noodles for free :-) I had actually booked a table for Saturday night, but when my friends arrived, the restaurant said the reservation was for Friday... Luckily, they still had a table for the four of us! Another fun and memorable experience with great friends.

Suzhou cuisine in London Chinatown! Song He Lou was founded in Suzhou more than 250 years ago and opened its first international branch here just a month ago We ordered the crayfish and sizzling eel set menu, which comes with a main, 3 sides, and suzhou-style noodles in a rich and flavourful broth (choose between white or red soup base) Add this to your must-visit list in Chinatown!

Chinese restaurants are leveling up everywhere in the world! Even in London’s Chinatown, I can find this pleasant, beautiful and artistically designed with food and space! The squid is super crispy and the dessert is beautiful and delicious! I didn’t even realize it was Suzhou food Had I known, I’d have ordered the noodles because they’re the classic! They even serve the food in emperor style of ceramic wares for those who don’t know! I had n utmost lovely dining experience here!

We dined here last Sunday evening after deciding we wanted something different to the usual. We chose a seat at the bar overlooking the kitchen so we could watch the action. We were in for a treat! The service was fantastic, the kitchen staff were friendly and the food was fantastic! (Funnily enough, as two unashamed meat lovers, our favourite dish was the aubergine!) The only fault, that caused us to cut the evening short, was an over-friendly, single, male customer who became too touch-feely and constantly interrupted our conversation. Next time we'd ask to move spots but we will definitely return as the restaurant is great!
